Introduction: Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNACC) is the basic tool used in the diagnosis of thyroid cancer (TC) in nodular goitre. FNACC does not allow for the establishment of a clear diagnosis in 15–30% of cases (mainly follicular lesions).
